I da ho, he da hypocrite

OMG! What a relief - Larry Craig is not gay! We can all breathe easier knowing that police forces across the country can stop worrying about complaints of gay sex in public bathrooms. All you straight guys out there can rest easy while taking a dump at the local mall or rest area... those guys that act like they want you are actually just fidgety, like the toe-tappin' muzak and sit with a "wide stance" for squeezing out that humongous pile of bullshit!
Who knew that every city and town in the US has opened up bathhouses and sex clubs so that the gays have somewhere safe and legal to go get their groove on? Who knew that society finally smartened up and started accepting sexual orientation as a human condition rather than a shameful embarrassment. An embarrassment that used to come in the form of hideous oppression that drove flustered and horny men into seedy restrooms and public parks only to be humiliated and criminalized by a homophobic society!
I'm not saying that I condone public lewdness. I don't. I used to cruise restrooms myself throughout high school and college because I thought it was the only place to meet other boys. God knows I couldn't do it in school or ask my parents if they'd inquire if some of our friends or neighbors had gay children my age to hang out with. No sir - instead of having a safe and positive environment to ponder my attractions - I was perfectly happy to sit, sometimes for hours, waiting with my pants down around my ankles for the man of my dreams to give me some kind of signal that he was single, nice, and well adjusted. That one never showed up.
I find it maddening that FOX News is claiming foul because the whole Craig Scandal is supposedly being exploited by the democrats for political gain... excuse me, but what did the republicans do with a presidential blow job? It's just a matter of course when any politician is embroiled in controversy that his affiliated party will suffer fallout... even when they distance themselves from the culprit. But the sad thing with this case is that nothing positive will be learned, or gained from the fundamental circumstances surrounding the behavior.
The guilty will vanish like Foley - out of sight, out of mind. The injured will boost morale by disassociation and stronger proclamations of faith and god. The rest of the self-loathing, closeted republicans will rally for stronger anti-gay legislation digging themselves a deeper hole in which to bury their secrets. And the liberals will be accused of being "extremists" when they suggest that granting equal rights to gays and lesbians is the first reasonable step toward reversing the kind of oppression that causes the behavior to begin with.

But one thing is for certain... human nature will prevail, and another proverbial goat will have to be sacrificed at the hands of the hypocrites. Unfortunately love, tolerance and understanding will continue to take a back seat to denial, lies and fear.
